TCM Brings TCM Classic Film Festival Direct to Fans With New At-Home Edition

TCM Classic Film Festival

This April, Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will present the TCM Classic Film Festival: Special Home Edition, a celebration of TCM Classic Film Festival movies and moments from the past decade that fans can enjoy from the comfort of their homes. Airing April 16-19, this special remote edition of the Festival will feature 24 hours a day of Festival films, TCM Hosts, special guests, and additional events on-air and online yet to be announced.

Programming highlights include:

  • April 16: A Star is Born (1954), the Opening Night film from the first TCM Classic Film Festival in 2010, and Luise Rainer: Live From the TCM Classic Film Festival, filmed live at the first Festival when Rainer, the only back-to-back Oscar® winner for Best Actress, was 100 years old
  • April 17: The Seventh Seal (1954), played at the 2013 Festival with Max Von Sydow in attendance, and Sounder (1972), played with star Cicely Tyson in attendance at the 2018 Festival after she had her handprints and footprints enshrined at the TCL Chinese Theatre
  • April 18: Peter Bogdanovich discusses The Magnificent Ambersons (1942) with TCM host Ben Mankiewicz during the film’s outro on air, which Bogdanovich introduced at the first Festival in 2010 alongside David Kamp. Also airing are three Vitaphone shorts, Baby Rose Marie the Child Wonder (1929), Don’t Get Nervous (1929), and Lambchops (1929), which were presented at the 2016 Festival by Ron Hutchinson, founder of the Vitaphone Project
  • April 19: Singin’ in the Rain (1952), which has played three times at the Festival with guests that included Debbie Reynolds, Stanley Donen and Todd Fisher, and Victor/Victoria (1982), which star Julie Andrews was to introduce live at the 2020 Festival
