Daniel Brühl
Dr. Laszlo Kreizler

Award winning actor Daniel Brühl has been involved in a number of critically acclaimed film and television projects and has garnered international recognition for his talent and versatility.

Brühl is currently filming in the lead role of criminal psychologist ‘Dr. Laszlo Kreizler’ in the new TNT series The Alienist, based on international best-selling novel by Caleb Carr. The psychological thriller is set in 1896 in New York City when a series of murders of boy prostitutes grips the city. Brühl’s character works as a specialist in deviant behavior, known as The Alienist (“one who studied mental pathologies”), who is called upon to conduct an investigation in secret. 

He recently wrapped on the drama feature Entebbe, with Rosamund Pike and Vincent Cassel. Based on a true story, the film follows four hijackers who commandeer an airplane bound to Entebbe, Uganda in 1976 in an effort to free dozens of Palestinian and pro-Palestinian prisoners in Israel. The feature, produced by Working Title Films, is directed by José Padilha and will be released in 2018.

In February 2018, Brühl will star in J.J. Abrams’ God Particle, about a group of astronauts fighting for survival. Julius Onah is directing, and the feature began shooting in June 2016. David Oyelowo, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Ziyi Zhang, Elizabeth Debicki and Chris O’Dowd also star, with Bad Robot producing and Paramount releasing the film internationally. The U.S. will release on February 2 and the U.K. follows on February 9.

In June 2017, Brühl appeared in Vincent Perez’s Alone in Berlin, with Emma Thompson and Mark Rylance. The film is a fact-based WWII story about German parents who, after their son is killed on the front lines, begin an anti-Hitler postcard campaign against his evil regime. Prior to this, Brühl played ‘Lutz Heck’ in The Zookeepers Wife, opposite Jessica Chastain. Directed by Niki Caro, the feature depicts the story of keepers of the Warsaw Zoo, ‘Jan and Antonina Zabinski,’ who helped save hundreds of people and animals during the Nazi invasion. The Focus Features picture was released in the US on March 31.

In 2016, Brühl took on the role of ‘Zemo’ in the summer blockbuster Captain America: Civil War, starring alongside Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. in the third adaptation of the popular Marvel comic book Captain America. The film was released in the U.K. on April 29, followed by a release in North America on May 6. Following this, Brühl starred in thriller feature Colony as ‘Daniel’ opposite Emma Watson.  Set against the backdrop of the Chilean military coup, the story follows a young woman’s desperate search for her abducted boyfriend that draws her into the infamous ‘Colonia Dignidad,’ a notorious cult in the South of Chile. The film was released in the UK on July 1.

In November 2015, Brühl starred as Maitre Di ‘Tony’ in the Weinstein’s Burnt, alongside Alicia Vikander, Bradley Cooper, Sienna Miller and Uma Thurman. The film focuses on a chef who destroyed his career with drugs and diva behavior and cleans up, returning to London to redeem himself. Also in 2015, Brühl appeared in Simon Curtis’s Woman in Gold, written by playwright Alexi Campbell. The feature tells of the true story of one battle to retrieve family possessions seized by the Nazis, among them Klimt’s painting “The Lady in Gold.” Boasting a cast including Helen Mirren, Max Irons and Charles Dance, the film was released on February 9.

In February 2014, Brühl starred in Michael Winterbottom’s The Face of An Angel, playing the male lead role of ‘Thomas’, opposite Kate Beckinsale and Cara Delevingne. The film follows a journalist and a documentary film maker as they explore the story of a murder in Tuscany. Also in 2014, Brühl appeared in the lead role of ‘Sebastian Zöllner’ in Ich Und Kaminski, written and directed by Wolfgang Becker. Early that year, in January 2014, Anton Corbijn’s thriller A Most Wanted Man premiered at Sundance, with Rachel McAdams, Robin Wright and the late Philip Seymour Hoffman. The film was released in September 2015.

In 2013, Brühl starred as ‘Niki Lauda’ in Ron Howard’s Rush, opposite Chris Hemsworth’s ‘James Hunt’. Set in 1976, the film is based on the true story of the Formula 1 champion driver and the 1976 crash that almost claimed his life. The multi-award nominated film was released worldwide in September, with Brühl being heralded as its breakout star. Digital Spy called his portrayal “an Oscar-worthy turn… Daniel Brühl is a masterful chameleon,” while Rolling Stone Magazine wrote he “starts at brilliant and revs up from there.” More glowing reviews of his performance followed: “awfully well played by Daniel Brühl” wrote The Hollywood Reporter, “quite brilliant” said HitFix, “remarkable” raved The Telegraph, “Brühl steals the show with a truly outstanding performance” reviewed HeyUGuys and Deadline said “take my word, this guy is the real deal and this is his year.” Brühl was consequently nominated for Golden Globe, BAFTA, SAG and Critics Choice awards in the category of ‘Best Supporting Actor.’

Also in 2013, Brühl appeared in Bill Condon’s The Fifth Estate playing ‘Daniel Domscheit-Berg’, colleague and friend of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, played by Benedict Cumerbatch. Based on the book "Inside Wikileaks" by Daniel Doimscheit-Berg himself and the Guardian book "Wikileaks" written by David Leigh and Luke Harding, the film follows the friendship and the eventual rift between the two as the international profile of the website suddenly explodes bringing instant fame and gradual disillusionment to its creators. The Fifth Estate opened the 2013 Toronto Film Festival before its worldwide release in October of the same year.

Even before his scene stealing turn in 2009 as German War Hero ‘Frederik Zoller’ in Quentin Tarantino’s iconic and Oscar winning Inglourious Basterds, opposite Brad Pitt and Christoph Waltz, Brühl was an established and award winning actor in Europe. In 2003, Brühl starred in Good Bye, Lenin! and was lauded for his portrayal of ‘Alexander Kerner’ in the German tragicomedy set in East Germany in the year 1989. Brühl gives a heart-breaking performance playing a young man protesting against the regime, while desperately trying to protect his frail mother from the truth. The role saw him win the European Film Award for Best Actor and the German Film Award for Best Actor in 2003.

Brühl’s other notable film credits include: The White Sound with Jane Fonda and Geraldine Chaplin, Ladies in Lavender where he made his English speaking debut opposite Dames Judi Dench and Maggie Smith, Stephane Robelin’s If We All Lived Together, Love In Thoughts for which he won the People’s Choice for Best Actor, The Edukators for which he was nominated for Best Actor at the 2004 European Film Awards, Joyeux Noel, Salvador, The Bourne Ultimatum, Julie Delpy’s The Countess and In Transit with John Malkovich.

He also speaks fluent German, English, Spanish and French.

 

Luke Evans

In just a little over a decade, Welsh actor Luke Evans has made an immediate impression in Hollywood, making his mark as a leading man across all genres. Evans began his career in London's West End and most recently starred as ‘Gaston’ in Disney’s highly successful, live-action adaptation of the animated classic, Beauty and the Beast. Directed by Academy Award winner Bill Condon, the film released in theaters on March 17, 2017 and has grossed over $1.2 million in the worldwide box office.

Evans can next be seen in Annapurna’s Professor Marston & The Wonder Women. The film chronicles the life of Harvard psychologist and inventor Dr. Marston (Evans), who created Wonder Woman, and his relationship with his wife, fellow psychologist and inventor Elizabeth (Rebecca Hall), and their polyamorous relationship with Olive Byrne (Bella Heathcote). The film will premiere at the 2017 Toronto Film Festival and opens nationwide on October 27, 2017.

Currently, Evans is in production on TNT’s upcoming drama series The Alienist and stars alongside Daniel Brühl (Rush, Inglorious Bastards). Based on the international best-selling novel by Caleb Carr, the show is set in the Gilded Age of New York City in 1896. Evans plays ‘John Moore’, a newspaper reporter for the New York Times, who is enlisted by newly appointed NYPD commissioner Teddy Roosevelt to track down one of New York’s first serial killers. Brühl’s ‘Dr. Lazlo Kreizler,’ is a doctor who studies deviant behaviors after a series of haunting, gruesome murders of boy prostitutes. The show is slated to premiere on TNT in late 2017.

Evans has also wrapped production on the indie film State Like Sleep starring alongside Kathryn Waterston and Michael Shannon. The drama revolves around the basic need for human connection and love. 

In 2016, Evans starred in Universal Pictures’ big screen adaptation of the highly successful book of the same name, The Girl on The Train, opposite Emily Blunt and Justin Theroux, directed by Tate Taylor.

Evans also starred in Ben Wheatley’s suspense noir film High Rise, for which he received a Best Supporting Actor nomination at the British Independent Film Awards. The Hollywood Reporter just named Evans one of the Best Performances of 2016.

In December 2015, Evans reprised his role as the iconic dragon slayer and archery expert, 'Bard the Bowman' in the final installment of Peter Jackson's The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. Evans also appeared as ‘Bard’ in the third installment, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. The films were released in December 2014 and 2015 and co-starred Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, and Richard Armitage. Prior to this, Evans was seen in the lead role of the heroic Dragon-slayer Vlad in Gary Shore’s Dracula Untold. The role saw him star alongside Charles Dance, Dominic Cooper, and Sarah Gadon and strengthened his global recognition.

For BBC, Evans starred in Chris Chibnall's The Great Train Robbery as the infamous, real-life train robber "Bruce Reynolds." The special aired in December 2014 and detailed the 2.6 million pound robbery of a Royal Mail train from Glasgow in 1962 and the aftermath when Reynolds spent five years on the run. The mini-series garnered awards recognition from the BAFTA TV committee as well as the Monte Carlo Television Festival.

In Summer 2013, Evans starred as the villain ‘Owen Shaw’ in the sixth installment of Universal's The Fast & Furious franchise. Directed by Justin Lin, the film opened in May and has grossed over $700 million world-wide. He returned to Fast Seven and has also been immortalized in the new Fast & Furious: Super Charged attraction at Universal Studios amusement park. 

Between 2010 and 2012, Evans' career began to take off with supporting and starring roles in films such as Immortals for director Tarsem Singh, The Three Musketeers for director Paul Anderson, The Raven starring opposite John Cusack for director James McTeigue and No One Lives for director Ryuhei Kitamura.

Evans first co-starring role came in Fall 2010 when he portrayed the lead role of 'Andy' in acclaimed director Stephen Frears' Tamara Drewe, based on the hugely successful Guardian newspaper comic strip and graphic novel of the same name. This romantic comedy, which premiered at The Cannes Film Festival, told the story of a young newspaper reporter (Gemma Arterton) who returned to the town she grew up in as her family sold her childhood home. Evans gained many fans and turned the heads of critics and journalists both stateside and internationally for his charming performance.

Prior to his film career, Evans had successfully carved out an enviable stage career starring in West End plays and musicals such as La Cava, Boy George's Taboo, Avenue Q, Dickens Unplugged, A Girl Called Dusty, and, at the acclaimed Donmar Warehouse, Small Change and Piaf. His powerful, trained voice and engaging stage presence made him the perfect choice for leading roles such as 'Chris' in Miss Saigon and 'Roger' in Rent.

Evans made his UK feature film debut in the 2009 British Independent Film Academy nominated feature Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll. It was Warner Brothers’ action/fantasy/drama Clash of the Titans, however, that put Evans on the map, where he portrayed the charismatic god, 'Apollo.'

After Clash of the Titans, Evans was next seen in the Ridley Scott’s remake of Robin Hood, playing the Sheriff's head henchman to Russell Crowe's interpretation of 'Robin Hood.'

 

Dakota Fanning

Dakota Fanning will next star in the TNT event series The Alienist, based on the international bestselling novel by Caleb Carr. She stars opposite Luke Evans and Daniel Brühl.

Last year she was seen in American Pastoral, an adaptation of the novel by Philip Roth.  Ewan McGregor directed and stars along with Jennifer Connelly.  Fanning plays “Merry,” the Swede’s (McGregor) daughter who becomes a revolutionary and commits an act of political terrorism during the Vietnam War. 

She can currently be seen in Brimstone for Dutch filmmaker Martin Koolhoven.  Fanning plays “Liz” opposite Guy Pearce, Kit Harrington and Carice Van Houten.  Reminiscent of The Piano, Brimstone is an epic story of survival and of powerful womanhood and resistance against the unforgiving cruelty of a hell on earth.  Liz is the heroine of the film, a genuine survivor and a woman of fearsome strength who responds with astonishing bravery to claim the better life she and her daughter deserve.

In 2014, she starred in director Kelly Reichardt’s Night Moves opposite Jesse Eisenberg and Peter Sarsgaard.  The film had its world premiere at the 2013 Venice Film Festival and North American premiere at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival.   It was also the winner of the 2013 Deauville Grand Prize.

Brian Geraghty

Brian Geraghty’s unique combination of intensity and appeal has made him a favorite of auteurs and A-listers alike. While perhaps best known for his role as the tightly-wound bomb specialist in Kathryn Bigelow's Oscar-winning film The Hurt Locker, Geraghty also popped as the co-pilot turned religious zealot in Robert Zemeckis' much-lauded drama Flight, opposite Denzel Washington. His résumé lists such esteemed and eclectic collaborators as Martin Scorsese, Sam Mendes, McG, Jake Paltrow, Carlos Cuaron, playwright Jessica Goldberg, and indie darling Kyle Alvarez. 

In 2013, Geraghty joined the pedigreed cast of Scorsese's Boardwalk Empire as "Warren Knox,” a rookie FBI agent whose baby face and Midwestern charm masked his true nature as a vicious, unhinged sociopath - and season four’s most diabolical villain.  

More recently, Geraghty worked alongside Liev Schreiber on Showtime's dramatic series Ray Donovan as a Los Angeles police detective who becomes officially involved - and personally entangled -- with the Donovan family. Recently he wrapped the independent feature Mercy opposite Ellen Page and Kate Mara.

Geraghty is currently working alongside Daniel Brühl, Luke Evans and Dakota Fanning in the TNT series The Alienist.

 

Douglas Smith

Douglas Smith will soon be seen in Cary Fukunaga's upcoming TNT series The Alienist. He is a Canadian-American actor who most recently starred in Stacy Title’s hit horror film The Bye Bye Man and had a supporting role in FilmNation's Miss Sloane opposite Jessica Chastain. A native of Toronto, Smith has been acting since fourth grade. He first broke onto the silver screen playing a child version of Brendan Fraser in 1999’s Blast from the Past. Since then, he has recurred on the first season of Martin Scorsese's Vinyl and played a supporting role in the blockbuster Terminator Genisys. He also recently starred in the independent projects Evan's Crime and Bottom of the World, opposite Jena Malone. His extensive film resume includes leads in the Blumhouse/Universal feature Ouija; Fox 2000's Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, opposite Logan Lerman; Brandon Cronenberg’s Antiviral, which premiered at Cannes; Analeine Cal y Mayor's Treading Water; and Jerome Sable's Stage Fright. He is perhaps best known, however, for his role as Ben Henrickson on HBO’s critically acclaimed show Big Love, starring Bill Paxton and Jeanne Tripplehorn. 

 

Matthew Shear

Matthew Shear was a break-out star of the 2015 Sundance Film Festival when he shined in Noah Baumbach's Mistress America opposite Lola Kirke and Greta Gerwig. He first teamed up with Baumbach in the 2014 feature While We're Young and can be seen in the director's latest Netflix-produced feature, The Meyerowitz Stories, opposite Dustin Hoffman and Ben Stiller.

Shear made his feature debut in Ang Lee’s Taking Woodstock. He went on to the film Beware the Gonzo opposite Ezra Miller and Zoë Kravitz. Shear has also been seen in guest star roles on CBS’s NYC 22, Hulu’s Deadbeat and Louis C.K.’s miniseries Horace and Pete, opposite Louis C.K. and Alan Alda.

Shear can be seen starring opposite Zosia Mamet in indie film The Boy Downstairs, which premiered at the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival. 

 

Matt Lintz

Matt Lintz started acting in commercials at a very young age in Atlanta. Since then, he hasn’t stopped working in both film and television. He was last seen in director Gary Ross' Free State of Jones, starring Matthew McConaughey, and will next appear in the role of Stevie Taggert in the TNT television event The Alienist.

Lintz recently played the lead role in director Chris Columbus’ Pixels, starring Adam Sandler, Michelle Monaghan, Kevin James, Josh Gad, Peter Dinklage and Brian Cox. He was also seen as Jeremy Renner's son in director Michael Cuesta's Kill the Messenger. Lintz's other credits include a role opposite Lucy Hale in A Cinderella Story and guest-starring roles on the television series Banshee, Sleepy Hollow and Army Wives. He also appeared in the feature film What To Expect When You're Expecting.

 

Robert Wisdom

Robert Wisdom just wrapped Beasts of Burden opposite Daniel Radcliffe and Grace Gummer. Before that, he wrapped a lead in Live Cargo, directed by Logan Sandler, which premiered at Tribeca this year. Wisdom can also be seen recurring on HBO’s Ballers with Dwayne Johnson and recently on Flaked for Netflix across Will Arnett. On the feature front, he recently wrapped Warner Brothers’ Unforgettable alongside Rosario Dawson and Katherine Heigl. Prior, he starred in The Loft opposite James Marsden and Karl Urban. Wisdom was a series regular on ABC’s Nashville opposite Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere.  He starred on HBO’s critically acclaimed series The Wire and also with Wentworth Miller on the third season of Fox’s Prison Break. Many know Robert Wisdom from The Dark Knight Rises, Face/OffStorytelling and Ray.

 

Q'orianka Kilcher

At the age of 14, Q'orianka Kilcher emerged into the front ranks of young actors with her portrayal of Pocahontas opposite Colin Farrell and Christian Bale in Terrence Malick's Oscar-nominated film The New World. Her performance won her the National Board of Review's award for Best Breakthrough Performance of 2006 and the 2006 Alma Award for Best Latin American Actress in a Feature Film, as well as numerous nominations and rave reviews. She recently reunited with Bale in her upcoming film Hostiles, directed by Academy Award nominee Scott Cooper and also starring Rosamund Pike.

Some of Kilcher's other credits include the soon-to-be-released film The Vault, opposite James Franco; the title roles in Princess Kaiulani and Te Ata; the award-winning television show Sons of Anarchy; the Toronto International Film Festival selection Sky; Longmire; Shouting Secrets; Hallmark Hall of Fame's Firelight; The Killing; and The Power Of Few, starring Christopher Walken and Christian Slater, a film she not only starred in but also produced via her production company iQ Films.

Kilcher is not only an award-winning actress with high critical acclaim but also an accomplished singer-songwriter, committed human rights and environmental activist, and fearless young force who, since the age of 16, has courageously and tirelessly used her public voice and privilege of celebrity to speak out for the voiceless and many of today's most important and relevant causes and issues. Her work in support of basic human rights, social and environmental justice, corporate accountability and the rights of indigenous peoples has garnered her many national and international nominations, awards and honors, including the Young Hollywood Green Award, the Gandhi Award and the prestigious Brower Youth Award, to name a few. Kilcher's effective and dedicated work for indigenous rights and environmental justice in the Amazon served as one of James Cameron's original inspirations in creating the character of Naitiri in the highly successful film Avatar and garnered her the respect of many notable indigenous leaders, such as Nobel Peace Prize winner Rigoberta Menchu, Bolivian President Evo Morales and indigenous leader Alberto Pizango, among others. Kilcher frequently lends her celebrity, voice and energy as spokesperson and collaborator to many notable organizations, such as Amnesty International, Green Peace and countless other large and small community organizations. Kilcher and her two brothers, Xihuaru and Kainoa Kilcher, founded the nonprofit Action Hero Network, a collaboration for everyday action heroes whom she feels are the true frontline soldiers for effective change, one action at a time, multiplied by thousands. In her free time she loves to write and play music with her brothers, travel, and collaborate with and support the work of small grassroots community projects and youth initiatives in her community and from around the world.
