JOHANNA FUENTES APPOINTED GLOBAL COMMUNICATIONS HEAD FOR WARNER BROS.

April 13, 2020 – Burbank, CA – Warner Bros. Chair and Chief Executive Officer Ann Sarnoff today announced the appointment of Johanna Fuentes as Executive Vice President, Worldwide Corporate Communications and Public Affairs. Fuentes will report to Sarnoff, and will be responsible for overseeing Warner Bros.’ communications strategies worldwide. She will work closely with Sarnoff and senior management to ensure the company’s messaging reflects its core values and advances its business interests.She will begin her new role on May 4th and will be based at Warner Bros.’ global headquarters in Burbank.

Fuentes joins Warner Bros. after a decade leading public relations strategy at Showtime Networks Inc. where she served as Executive Vice President, Communications. During her tenure, Fuentes was responsible for the execution of all global media relations initiatives enhancing the corporate and programming interests for Showtime Networks, Pop TV and Smithsonian Channel™.

Fuentes managed all programming publicity, corporate and business press outreach, media and talent relations, awards, film festivals, events, photography, sports, philanthropy and corporate branding for Showtime Networks. She also served as the company’s communications liaison with parent companies CBS Corporation and ViacomCBS.

While at Showtime, Fuentes shepherded the launch of countless original hit series, all featuring some of the top talent and creatives in the business. She managed the communications strategy for the company’s over-the-top streaming service, and the network's expansion into new content categories including award-winning documentary films and limited series like Twin Peaks, The Loudest Voice and Escape at Dannemora, honored with multiple Emmy and Golden Globe nominations. Her team launched high-impact and culture-moving programming including Sacha Baron Cohen’s Who is America?, The Circus and the Emmy-nominated The Fourth Estate. She led the network's awards strategy, with eye-catching marketing and PR "For Your Consideration" campaigns that have made the network a consistent awards player.

Before that, she led communications for Bravo, overseeing the network’s nationwide PR staff, and uniquely extending the brand beyond traditional venues into the lifestyle, fashion and business media. She successfully spearheaded the launches of some of the network's most influential series, including Top Chef, Project Runway, Watch What Happens: Live! and the expansion of The Real Housewives franchise.

Fuentes also spent six years at CBS Entertainment in New York managing publicity campaigns for a variety of original series, movies and specials for CBS and UPN, including Survivor, The King of Queens, CSI: NY, Everybody Hates Chris, The GRAMMY®and TONY® Awards. She held prior roles in publicity, marketing and advertising functions at Arnold Worldwide in Boston and EF International.

Fuentes has been honored as one of The Imagen Foundation’s Most Powerful and Influential Latinos in the Entertainment Industry since 2012. In the fall of 2019 she was officially inducted as part of the Hall of Fame freshman class of Imagen’s Powerful and Influential Latinos in Television & Film. She has also been recognized on Multichannel News’ Women to Watch, and honored annually among PR News’ Top Women and as one of the Most Influential Minorities in Cable by CableFAX: The Magazine. She is a graduate of Boston College.
