Turner International to showcase comedy and drama programming line-up at MIPTV 2018

London, 06 April 2018: Turner International heads to MIPTV this year with a leading mix of comedies and dramas from its General Entertainment portfolio, which comprises of TNT, tbs and truTV.

An exciting addition to the Turner content line-up is The Last O.G. It premiered on tbs in the US on 3 April and was tbs’ strongest original series launch event ever, debuted as the #1 cable comedy and was cable’s biggest scripted comedy premiere since 2015. It stars comedy superstar and multiple Emmy nominee Tracy Morgan, who executive-produced the programme alongside Oscar-winning director Jordan Peele, and centres on Tray (Morgan), an ex-con who is shocked to see just how much the world has changed when he is released from prison for good behaviour after a 15-year stint. Returning to his newly gentrified Brooklyn neighbourhood, he discovers that his former girlfriend, Shay (Tiffany Haddish), has married an affable, successful white man who is helping raise the twins Tray never knew existed. Wanting nothing more than to connect with his kids, but having neither the money to support them nor himself, Tray falls back on the skills he learned in prison to make ends meet while treading unfamiliar territory.

Final Space, an animated, interstellar comedy created by independent filmmaker, actor, comedian and entrepreneur Olan Rogers, has very successfully aired on tbs and Adult Swim so far. It is being produced by Conan O'Brien's Conaco and New Form, in association with Turner's Studio T and is a serialised intergalactic space saga about an astronaut named Gary and his adorable, planet-destroying friend, Mooncake. The series will follow their adventures as they embark on a quest to unlock the mystery of "Final Space," the place where the entire universe ends.

From truTV comes Misfits and Monsters, set to premiere Summer 2018, a brand-new genre-hopping, scripted anthology comedy series which brings twisted morality tales from the darkly witty mind of creator and four-time Sundance Award-winning writer and director Bobcat Goldthwait (Police Academy). Each episode will tell a different story in a different genre – including 1980s-era science fiction, psychological thriller, romantic comedy and reality. It will satirize our social norms and exploit the awkwardness of its flawed characters.

There will also be new seasons of returning comedy favourites including millennial dramedy Search Party, from tbs, and I’m Sorry and Those Who Can’t, both from truTV.

On the drama side, following the hugely successful first season of TNT Serie’s Original 4 Blocks, the critically acclaimed, multiple award-winning Berlin gangster drama, with SVOD rights sold worldwide to Amazon Prime Video in over 150 countries including the U.S., Canada and the UK, a new series returns and will premiere in the Autumn.

Joining the Turner line-up is Arthur’s Law, consisting of six one-hour episodes. Starring Jan Josef Liefers, Martina Gedeck and Nora Tschirner, the dark comedy mini-series tells the story of unemployed Arthur Ahnepol as he ekes out a bleak existence and makes a morbid plan: he wants his obnoxious wife to die. However, this sets off an avalanche of disastrous events. It is produced in cooperation with good friends Filmproduktions GmbH, and is Turner’s first Original Production for TNT Comedy in Germany.

Also, Hackerville, an HBO Europe original production, co-produced with TNT Serie, is a six-part thriller about a network of hackers and the investigators tasked with tracking them down. It has been created by Ralph Martin and Joerg Winger from UFA Fiction and will be produced by Cristian Mungiu and Tudor Reu through Mobra Films.
